Fire officials are investigating the cause of a Thursday morning fire that destroyed a Keaau home.
Responding to the 7:20 a.m. alarm, Hawaii Fire Department personnel arrived at 16-1784 37th Avenue in the Orchidland Estates subdivision of Puna to find 900-square-foot, single-story wooden home engulfed in flames. Two vehicles were also on fire. A search of the premises determined no one was in the residence or vehicles.
Firefighters were able to get the fire under control within 20 minutes of their arrival and declared the fire out at 7:50 a.m.
